Technical help
Help with browsers, connections, and what to try when something won't load or play and any other technical issues you encounter while using the Academy.
If you are unable to find help with your issue here, contact support.
Which browsers and devices work?
A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer, tablet or phone. Internet Explorer isn't supported. Keep your browser updated: older versions can stop course content from playing.
A course will not open or shows a blank screen
- Refresh the page.
- Open another website to check your connection.
- Clear your browser cache (Ctrl + Shift + Delete), or try a private window.
- Try a different browser.
If none of that works, contact support with the course name, your browser, and what you saw.
Video or audio will not play
Check the device volume, and that the tab isn't muted. Some workplace networks block streaming, so try a different connection if you are on one. On a phone, check the browser is allowed to play sound.
My progress was not saved
Progress saves when you move between screens and when you submit an assessment. If you closed the browser partway through a screen, the last completed screen is what is kept. If a whole course's progress has disappeared, contact support with the course name and the date you were working.
The page looks broken or overlaps
Try zooming out with Ctrl and minus (Cmd and minus on a Mac), or refresh the page.
If you use a browser extension that changes how pages look, switch it off for the Academy.
I'm on a slow or limited connection
The Academy aims to make all courses accessible to everyone. Course multimedia is kept low-bandwidth and optimised, but narration and video still use data. On a limited connection, turn narration off and read instead, and download course summaries where they are offered.
The Moodle Workplace app gives you the option to download courses and complete them offline.
What information should I include when reporting a problem?
The course name, the screen or activity you were on, your device and browser, what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot if you have one. With that, we can usually reproduce the problem without coming back to you for more.
